What is ICSEI
The International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI) was created to provide a forum for researchers, policy makers, school leaders, teachers, district administrators, and professional developers to share ideas, t promote research, and to encourage practices that will enhance quality and equity of education for all students.
ICSEI's goal is to learn from one other through research, dialogue and development opportunities how best to address issues of equity and excellence in schools across context as varied as Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, North and South America and Europe.
ICSEI was founded in January 1988, with the first ICSEI congress held in London. Two major vehicles spurred its growth: annual conferences held at sites throughout the world and an international journal.
Previous conferences have been held in London (1988), Rotterdam (1989), Jerusalem (1990), Cardiff (1991), Victoria (1992), Norrkoping (1993), Melbourne (1994), Leuwarden (1995), Minsk (1996), Memphis (1997), Manchester (1998), San Antonia (1999), Hong Kong (2000), Copenhagen (2001), Toronto (2002), Sydney (2003), Rotterdam (2004), Barcelona (2005), Fort Lauderdale (2006).
